When we started the business in 1996, Draper was just a sleepy farming communty, nestled in the shadows of the beautiful Wasatch Mountain Range, on the south end of the valley.
A signal light suspended on a cable above 12300 South and 900 East indicated that you were at the town center. Draper Bank & Trust, at one corner, were the fine and trusting folks to give us a loan to start the business. Right down the street is the Historic Draper Theater where, for about two years, we rented space and set up shop as Food For Thought.
From the very beginning we focused on quality and taste. Our small menu consisted of a few sandwiches and salads. We made a soup from scratch every day, on a single electric burner. Our tiny cookie oven turned out quiche and a few hand made desserts.
In 1998 we moved the business to its present location - a charming bungalow - built in early 1900's. The former Whetman Family Home sits on the corner of the Historic Draper Park. Inside, the seating is cozy and spread among three former bedrooms. During the summer months, dining spills outdoor on both the north and south sides of our building.
Draper is now an incorporated, bustling city with a large thoroughfare right through town. The hanging stoplight has been replaced, Draper Bank & Trust is gone, but the theater is still there, putting out community theater productions.
In the past 22 years we've grown too. Our menu has changed and re-imagined many times but our commitment to quality has never wavered. Even though we've grown, we continue to make small-batch, unique hand- crafted food and gifts that you won't find elsewhere.
Twenty-two years would be a milestone for any restaurant. For us it is a stepping stone to the next phase of our business with the best yet to come. Thanks for your support through the years. Please stop by and see what's new.
